Outreach

International day of Light celebration at the Cincinnati Museum Center

In collaboration with the Cincinanti chapter of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy and local universities and companies, we have now organized for two years in a row an outreach/fun event at the Cincinnati Museum Center. On the International Day of Light (May 16), we bring several fun experiments involving light to show/teach museum-goers what we can do with light and how light phenomena are involved in our everyday life. Experiments include, "how do colors work?", "nanotechnology in your COVID test", "how does sunscreen works", "fun with fluo and phosphorecence". This event was organized in collaboration with Miami University, Procter & Gamble and Northern Kentucky University. - We even made an appearance on the local news last year! - We plan to have this event yearly and to add more events for students networking in collaborations with the Society for Applied Spectroscopy.
